Large trucks and eighteen-wheelers are some of the most dangerous vehicles on the road. If they are not operated or maintained appropriately, then they can put motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists at serious risk of injury. If you are hurt in an accident involving a large truck or eighteen-wheeler, then you may be able to bring a civil claim for damages against the parties responsible for the accident. For many victims of this type of accident, the injuries can be extensive and even life-altering. If you are overwhelmed by the idea of pursuing your legal right to compensation, then you should speak with a personal injury lawyer at Maurer Law about how a Raleigh truck accident lawyer can help you.

Recently, a large truck overturned on Interstate 85 near Hillsborough, according to a local news report. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated the accident and concluded that the eighteen-wheeler ran off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail near Exit 163. The accident caused the trailer to detach from the cab. The trailer fell down into an embankment alongside the road. Law enforcement officials also stated that the trailer contained blankets and comforters. The driver did not receive any injuries as a result of the crash and no other bystanders were injured.

Although no one was hurt in this situation, it highlights the dangers of trucks on the roadway. The blankets and comforters loaded into the truck may have been a factor in the crash. If cargo is not loaded properly or if a vehicle is overloaded, then it can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. If another vehicle or pedestrian had been in the vicinity when the trailer dislodged from the tractor, then it could have led to a serious accident.
